Mercedes Benz and Renault Nissan to develop petrol engine and automatic transmissions

Mercedes Benz and Renault-Nissan has confirmed they will jointly develop petrol engines and new automatic transmission.Both of them confirmed their plans in 2012 Paris Motor show.First project in the new partnership is to develop a 4 cylinder petrol engine.This engine engine gives more fuel efficiency than the current engine and also considerably reducing the emission norms.First engines from this partnership will power Mercedes Benz vehicles and followed by Nissan-Renault cars in 2016.Second project in this partnership is to develop a new automatic transmission.This transmission has start-stop system and also another new technology developed by Mercedes which is called shift by wire.Mercedes has licensed Nissan to manufacture and use this transmission for the Nissan and Infinity branded vehicles.These transmissions will be made in the Nissan subsidiary Jatco in Mexico.Two CEO were very happy with their new partnership.
