Mercedes S 63 AMG and S 65 AMG The Best Of Everything

The top models of the powerful S-Class are now even more attractive: With discreet but effective fine-tuning both performance saloons seem distinctive and valuable than before.
Exclusivity and dynamism, sovereignty and high tech - that is both S-Class models from Mercedes-AMG, the S 63 AMG with its 386 kW/525 hp and 630 Nm AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine accelerates in 4.6 seconds to 100 km Even more sovereignty, the S 65 AMG: Its AMG 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine has a maximum output of 450 kW/612 hp and a maximum torque of 1,000 Newton meters. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes 4.4 seconds. Both AMG saloons are electronically limited to 250 km / h. Despite unchanged engine data and performance values could fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to three percent.
A once exalted status of the new, more pronounced arrow-shape radiator grille with chrome twin blades ensures the S 65 AMG. The new front fascia features striking, AMG-specific LED daytime driving lights and two transverse air outlets on each side. More than identifying the "6.3 AMG" or. "V12 Biturbo" lettering on the front wings and redesigned exterior mirrors.
Side skirts continue the line of the front bumper to the rear. Where the new rear apron for another highlight: the center section of the black diffuser insert is now painted in body color. New tail lights with 52 LEDs in the form of a double "C" also give the S-Class an unmistakable appearance from behind. Effective accents with two chromed twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system, the S 65 AMG V12 design. As a distinguishing feature between the V8 and the V12 model also serve the attractive AMG light alloy wheels: the S 63 AMG has painted titanium gray, high-sheen AMG 19-inch multi-spoke wheels with tires in 255/40 (front) and 275/40 ( rear). The S 65 AMG 20-inch, painted titanium gray and polished AMG forged wheels with 255/35 are (front) and 275/35 (rear) tires.

Crosswind stabilization, Torque Vectoring Brake and Direct-Steer
The AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control (ABC) provides for the first time as standard equipment, the crosswind stabilization: With this function, influences caused by crosswinds or balanced - case of strong gusts - reduced to a minimum. ABC compensates against the effect of crosswinds by adjusting the wheel load within milliseconds, using the yaw-rate and lateral acceleration sensors of the Electronic Stability Program ESP.
The standard package is the new Torque Vectoring Brake: when cornering, brief direct causes a braking intervention at the inside rear wheel, a defined oversteering, so that the saloon corners precisely and under control at all times. Torque Vectoring Brake is an additional feature of the Electronic Stability Program ESP and not only noticeably improves responsiveness but also active handling safety in critical conditions. Further perfection of the driving experience is also the Direct-Steer system: it provides with its variable ratio depending on steering angle for a more direct response when cornering, and therefore more responsive handling - in brief: enhanced driving pleasure on board the S-Class from Mercedes-AMG.
An optimum in terms of stability, deceleration and sensitivity continues to offer the AMG high-performance braking system based on the adaptive Brkae system. The front axle features a double floating caliper is used. This exclusive technology combines the advantages of a floating-calliper brake - lower heat transfer to the brake fluid and clear advantages comfort by keeping the brake pads - with the efficiency of an extra large fixed caliper brake.
Comprehensive standard equipment with exclusive flair
The high-tech package is for the exclusive interior appointments in nothing: Immediately after opening the door of the S 65 AMG welcomes the driver with large, animated "AMG V12 Biturbo" lettering on the central display of the instrument cluster. The AMG main menu informs the driver of the engine oil temperature, current gear, battery voltage, and the race timer that is used to determine lap times on a racetrack. The S 63 AMG is one of the leather "Passio" with natural leather in the seat side bolsters to the extensive standard equipment, as well as the AMG front sports seats with climate control, massage, multicontour and dynamic handling function. An even more exclusive flair is the leather upholstery "Exclusive Passion" in the AMG V12 diamond pattern of the S 65 AMG. Rich burr walnut trim elements and the AMG-specific analogue clock with IWC design in both AMG models take for granted. Both the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC of the S 63 AMG and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission of the S 65 AMG are equipped with the Direct Select circuit. The transitions can be made using AMG aluminum shift paddles on the new AMG sports steering wheel switch.
New standards in active and passive safety
In addition, both AMG top models set by a unique combination of innovative camera and radar-based driver assistance systems set new standards in active and passive safety. These include the drowsiness detection system Attention Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and linked to the proximity radar pre-safe brake that engages automatically when an accident is imminent and acts like an invisible crumple zone. The Night View Assist with infrared camera features a novel pedestrian detection. The pictures from the windscreen camera are also used by the new, optional Speed Limit Assist. The Brake Assist Plus and Distronic Plus proximity control support the driver during emergency braking. Standard equipment in the immediate pre-safe positioning function and Neck-Pro luxury head restraints are forward.
New infotainment systems, including COMAND APS increase with new split-view display that simultaneously displays different images for driver and front passenger, the more comfort for the passengers. While the S 63 AMG with a short or long-wheelbase is, the S 65 AMG is only available as a long-wheelbase version. Its market launch celebrate both AMG flagship models from June 2009.
